Readers: Give Description in 25 Words or Less

We know that a lot of you have some very passionate views about this car. We have been called every name in the book. And then some.

"Destroyed a French classic."

"Another American disaster."

"Best thing ever."

Etc etc etc.

Here is your chance to give our 1964 Citroen ID19 hot rod a tagline description in 25 words or less. Just leave your description in the post comments or email us at citroenhotrod@gmail.com.

We will post all reader descriptions. Feel free to be nice, funny, eloquent or mean.

To start things off here is our own eloquent, 25 words or less description:

"Classic French 1964 Citroen ID19 rethought as American hot rod. Everything is new under the skin: 400hp, new chassis, transmission, wheels & interior. Truly unique."

Update (Reader Descriptions via Email):

Paul - "A fantastic way to rile up the Citroen nerds and the boring old men with boring old muscle cars"

Sven - "It's not a Citroën anymore. Nice Hot Rod, But NOT a Citroën!"

Sven II - "Yeah but to put a REAR-drive steelspringed suspension chassie on a DS is like letting Fidel Castro sing The star sprangeld banner on that opening where Jannet Jackson did a nip-slip.... I think"

Calling All South Florida Citroen Enthusiasts

Probably going to be in Palm Beach in March, so I'm trying to get in contact with Citroen enthusiasts and autoclubs in South Florida.

It would be cool to meet up and see some cool Citroens.

Give us a holler if you know anyone.

Update: The good people at the Tampa Bay Automobile Musuem are helping us connect with Citroens enthusiasts in South Florida.

They have quite the Citroen collection at their museum including 1932 Half-Track with Kegress Suspension, 1937 7CV, 1952 15CV, 1954 2CV, and 1961 2CV Sahara (plus, the owner drives a 1972 SM). Check out their entire car collection here.

My New French Beauty: Citroen DS21

You think that French President Nicolas Sarkozy is the only person with a new French beauty on his arm. We have to admit that we too have being seeing a new lady.

1972 Citroen DS21 to be exact.

Here is our new shy beauty:

Now our garage has one Citroen that pisses off purists and intrigues everyone else. And, one Citroen that is loved by the purist crowd and ignored by the hot rod enthusiasts.

Hot Rod Evolution

We've been blogging the transformation of this car since it was purchased for $600 in Oakland a couple of years ago.

Well, Kreations the hot rod outfit that built the car also has a great page taking you through the project in pictures.

Here are a few pictures from Kreations' page:

Optimizing for an Evening Out

This blog hasn't had an update for awhile so I thought I'd share a quick blurb about what's its like to drive this around town.

You get some pretty interesting reactions from people. Most people have never seen a Citroen, much less an ID19, so you get a lot of "that's an odd-looking car" gawkers.

For people who are familiar with classic French cars they show lots of love. It's always fun to get an enthusiastic thumbs-up from a sophisticated older lady (those are usually hard to come by).

Even the hot rod crowd shows some love with the engines distinct overwhelming rumble.
